Cecil Sharp's "English Folk Song: Some Conclusions"

The VWML's Assistant Librarian, Nick Wall, has written an informative blog post for the EFDSS website on Cecil Sharp's seminal and often debated book, English Folk Song : Some Conclusions.

Sharp's English Folk Song: Some Conclusions was described by one reviewer in the Times Literary Supplement as a "professedly scientific treatise...the first published attempt to discuss the origins, characteristics, and value of English folk music." Find out more about the debate around Sharp's 'conclusions' over on our blog.
