The Vaughan Williams Memorial Library (VWML) is pleased to have received a facsimile copy of Handel’s Messiah, once belonging to Cecil Sharp and presented to him by his father.
The book, which has a personal inscription from Cecil Sharp’s father, was kindly bought and donated by Rattle Up My Boys and the Green Dragon Mummers. The book came from Ivor Allsop’s collection and is believed to have once been in William Kimber’s possession.
The VWML is grateful to Rattle Up My Boys and the Green Dragon Mummers for their kind donation and is pleased to see the book placed alongside other books from Cecil Sharp’s collection in the library at Cecil Sharp House.
